I try to come up with a new playlist every Valentine’s Day, but I’m not exactly the the hearts-and-flowers type. Because relationships (and life) aren’t really like that; they’re messy, thrilling, frustrating, and well, complicated. Sometimes you just want to burn your beloved in his bed, and vice versa. Other times, you can hardly stand being apart from your sweetie for even a second. And there are times when things go completely sideways and someone leaves. It’s ok. That’s what it’s all about. If it were all hearts and flowers and sugar-coated rainbows, it’d be deadly dull.

So I went back to the drawing board, and came up with a bunch of songs that better suited reality. I’m really happy with the way these all hang together, and frankly, it’s a lot more entertaining than what I had in mind when I started. So throw these on, and revel in the wonder that is love. Happy Valentine’s Day!
