The Wicked Hitch

Radio Hitch | Pool Full of Liquor

Welcome back to December of Drinking set list! We’re up to Day 7, and it’s time to dive in to the deep end! Yes, I love puns, get over it. The next artist on the list jumped to Number 17 on the charts with this song in 2012. If you’ve ever hard a hard time handling your liquor, this is the tune for you.

Kendrick Lamar – Swimming Pools (Drank)

Kendrick Lamar is what I would call a prodigy. He released his first mixtape when he was only 16, and started appearing alongside other up-and-coming West Coast rappers a couple years later. He developed a name for himself releasing mixtapes, and independent albums. In 2012, Kendrick released “Swimming Pools (Drank)” as the lead single for his major-label debut, good kid, m.A.A.d. city. The song entered the Billboard chart at Number 100, and steadily climbed to its peak position at Number 17.

“Swimming Pools (Drank)” offers a look at the societal pressures to drink, and the consequences of hitting the bottle too hard. I’m sure that most of us have used liquor for a little social lubrication. Liquor makes it a whole lot easier to keep smiling while the dull, dull VP of Accounting talks your ear off at the office holiday party. It helps you to gather the courage to approach a good looking stranger, and gives you a topic of conversation when you get there. The trick is to maintain your happy buzz, and not get to the point where a swimming pool full of liquor sounds like an awesome idea.

Because seriously. The sanitary conditions alone make it a terrible plan. Not that I’ve given it that much thought….

Anyhoo, here’s Kendrick Lamar with “Swimming Pools (Drank).”

Prost!
