Hello! Welcome back to the Halloween Countdown, day 5! I hope you’ve been enjoying the tunes so far. We’re starting to really dig into the spooky now, and the next song on the countdown is one of the creepiest I know.
Number 16: Organ Donor – Jeremy Messersmith
“Organ Donor” comes from an album titled The Reluctant Graveyard, which was named on several Top 10 lists in 2010. With a title like that, there are any number of songs that would have fit this list, but I like this one best. Jeremy Messersmith is an artist out of Minneapolis, Minnesota, who I first heard on the stellar radio station, The Current.
This song has a creepy cool beat, and Messersmith’s almost sweet voice gives it an extra ounce of weird. And when a song starts out with “I was born in a mortuary…” you just have to include it on a Halloween playlist!
