Welcome back! It’s Day 6 of the Today’s Spin Halloween Countdown, and we’ve hit Number 15. We’re starting to get in some real favorites of mine, and this song had to come first.

Number 15: The Neville Brothers – Voodoo

I’ve loved the Neville Brothers since the first time I ever went to New Orleans more than 20 years ago. The Nevilles have been making music since God was a boy, but they first got together as a group in 1978.  They have a uniquely funky sound that could’ve only come out of the the Big Easy, which is perfect for this list. With all the tales of ghosts, vampires, and especially voodoo, no American city feels more spooky than New Orleans.

This song, from their 1989 release Yellow Moon, pays homage to their hometown’s Caribbean roots and black magic reputation. With “Voodoo,” here are the Neville Brothers. Enjoy!
