Welcome back to the Halloween Countdown! We’re closing in on the Number 1 creepy tune, and from here on in, it gets a little scary. The next song is from an artist that I must admit I don’t listen too that often, but I really appreciate for his dedication to his niche. And really, you just can’t have a Halloween playlist without at least one zombie, and this guy is pretty much the king of the genre.

Number 4: Rob Zombie – Living Dead Girl

Rob Zombie first came to my attention as the frontman for the band White Zombie. While metal isn’t really my go-to, music wise, there really is nothing better when you’re feeling angry and alone. The band had decent success, but Rob has made more of an impact with his solo career and as a director of horror films.

He started a record label, Zombie-A-Go-Go, that has released Halloween compilations and produced music for bands like The Ghastly Ones. He’s written screenplays, directed films, composed soundtracks, written comic books, all in some vein of the horror genre. So when I was thinking about songs for the countdown, his name immediately sprung to mind.

“Living Dead Girl” is from his debut solo album, Hellbilly Deluxe. The song features lines from old horror movies, and the intro music is from a Wes Craven film. The video, co-directed by Rob Zombie, takes its inspiration from the silent film, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, and is a load of fun.

Here’s Rob Zombie with “Living Dead Girl.” Enjoy!
